Lorins Free Stuff: About Me...............................................

Hi, my name is Lorin. I started my freebie hunting many years ago just casually through walmart and start sampling. Then in November 2008 I started getting more into it when I discovered ............ Hey, It's Free!

Then I was unstoppable. I would spend hours each day reading freebie blogs and forums. I would run searches trying to find freebies that weren't on the radar just so that I could be the first to post them on my favorite forums. I love to tell everyone about my free samples and freebie finds whether they care or not.

So I had the thought.....I know there are a lot of people like me out there who love to scour the internet for free samples.......I'm already posting samples on other peoples sites. Why not create my own?? It's not quite as easy as I thought it would be. I've became somewhat frustrated with trying to sort the good free stuff from the scams, the offers where you have to jump through hoops only to find out they want you to sign up for a credit card, the ones where they'll send you a free sample for a small s&h fee. My favorite is the try it for free ....... if you call and cancel before the end of the trial period you won't be charged....... but then you can never get ahold of anyone to cancel and of course they've already got your cc number so......

Now you're probably wondering why I have so much time to be spend on this site. Well........

I got injured at my job in July of '07 (I worked at a Veterinary Clinic for 13 years). I herniated my c5-c6 disc in my neck. It sucks. It is completely life changing. It hurts all the time. I was in denial at first. I didn't give it the respect it deserved. I did some things I shouldn't have done and I think I made it worse.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Nothing intentional mind you. I just thought ......well...... I don't know what I was thinking. I didn't realize it would get as much worse as it has as quickly as it has (arthritic changes). I'm only 39 years old!!

I already explained why I started this freebie website but what I didn't realize is that I'm learning a lot about designing websites. Of course this website is from a template but I'm starting from scratch here. Everyday I learn something new and it's a lot of fun. Maybe it'll lead to something, maybe it won't. At least it gives my brain something to do ;) and hopefully bring joy to other people. Plus I can dish all this out on complete strangers. Thank you for reading.

Freebie Tip #1 Junk E-Mail Account

Before signing up for freebies get a freebie e-mail account. You can set up accounts through hotmail, yahoo, google or any that you can find for free. Inevitably you're going to sign up for some freebies that are going to spam you no matter how careful you are. I like hotmail because they give you 35GB of space to store files. I have all my photos backed up on their skydrive. I have heard though that sometimes their spam protection works too well and won't let freebie websites send confirmation e-mails through. I haven't had a problem that I know of.

Freebie Tip #2 Freebie Phone Number

A lot of freebie websites require a phone number. I never give my phone number unless it is required. You probably don't need to worry about it with well known companies like proctor and gamble, or sites like that but with sites you don't know or haven't heard of I would be hesitant. Especially ones where you get the feeling they may want to sell you something or get you to sell their product. That's why I have a freebie phone number. There are a number of services out there. The one I have is listed below.

K7.net Unified Messaging. Your Own Free Phone Number to Receive faxes and voice messages you can check over the internet or on your home phone. I use it to fill in the freebies that require phone numbers.

You may be tempted to give a fake phone number or do 555-1234 but the companies are on to that and probably won't send you a sample.

Freebie Tip #4 Fine Tuning

You'll definately want to have your Google autofill working. Either that or a free program called RoboForm to automatically fill in forms so that you don't have to do it over and over and over...........

Stretching the truth to get what you want. If a company asks how did you hear about us never, ever tell them you heard about it through a freebie website. You more than likely won't get your freebie.

I also sign up for a lot of freebies is as if I am the person for whom I intend to give the freebie to.

Sign up for a freebie right away. I've seen freebies come and go within a couple of hours. You might think well, they have 10,000 I'll do it after dinner. It could be too late!! There's a lot of us hardcore freebie hunters out there and we don't just take one for us. We sign up our families too!!
